Brenda Sue Ulery, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away April 21, 2025, at Mayfair Manor Nursing Home in Lexington KY. After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, she met the journey with unwavering grace and quiet strength for more than a decade.
Brenda was born on September 16, 1955, in Bath County, KY. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Bobby Ulery Sr., with whom she shared a loving life centered around family, laughter, and simple joys. This year, they celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage—a testament to their enduring love, unwavering partnership, and the beautiful life they built together. Following her working career, Brenda embraced her time at home, cherishing her days cooking, entertaining and catching up with friends and family. She also had a passion for shopping, cruising and traveling the world.
Coming from a family of nine siblings herself, Brenda took on the role of a caregiver from the beginning. Carrying that over to her own family she will always be known as the glue that held everyone together.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nora Montgomery and Kel Holbrook as well as her siblings Scotty Holbrook, Robert Holbrook, Doug Holbrook and Patty Minix.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Bobby Ulery Sr.; her children, Raymond Kelly Ulery and his wife Sandy, Bobby Ulery Jr. and his wife Morgan; and her beloved grandchildren, Kelsey Shields and her husband James Hunter, Rileigh Ulery, Eli Ulery and his fiancé Katie Marcum and Isaac Ulery. She was also blessed with two great- grandchildren, Weston and Brooks Ulery.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Wilbur Holbrook and his wife Teresa, Lillian Maxine Prater and her husband Jack, Betty Jackson and her late husband Rodney, and Eva Riddle and her husband Chuck. She will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brenda’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished and her legacy carried forward by those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial will follow at the Owingsville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Eli Ulery, Isaac Ulery, Owen St. John, Jack Prater, James Shields, and Patrick Riddle.
