Carolyn Hurst

Carolyn Jane Hurst, 84, of Sharpsburg, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

She was born in Bath County on October 14, 1937 to the late Goldie Jewell and Frances Wilson Jewell.

Carolyn was a member of the Grace Gospel Church in Sharpsburg where she played piano for many years.  She was employed by the company formerly known as Hobart for 25 years.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Hurst and her daughter, Cheryl Renee Hurst.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia McVey Purvis (George) of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, one son, Barry Hurst (Regina) of Owingsville, five grandchildren; Jennifer Smedley (Matt) of Wallingford, Kentucky, Alicia Erwin (Tyler), Justin McVey (Amber) both of Owingsville, Jordan McVey (Ashley) and Amanda Welch (Whitney) both of Sharpsburg, nine great grandchildren; Wyatt Erwin, Rileigh McVey, Emilee McVey, Gavin McVey, Abby McVey, Brooklyn Raynae Welch, Zachery McVey, McKayla McVey and Chloe McVey.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Pastor Michael Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Wednesday.

Pallbearers include; Walter Shrout, Whitney Welch, Matt Smedley, Tyler Erwin, Justin McVey and Shawn Becraft.

Honorary pallbearers include, Bob Bailey.
