Cheryl Hurst

Cheryl Renee Hurst, 63, of Sharpsburg, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on May 9, 1958, to Carolyn Jewell Hurst and the late Arnold Hurst.

Renee received her associate degree from the former Watterson College in Louisville, Kentucky.  She went on to become a medical lab technician at what was once Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She enjoyed raising vegetables in her garden and tending to her flowers.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her daughter, Amanda Welch (Whitney) of Sharpsburg, One brother Barry Hurst (Regina) of Owingsville, Kentucky and one sister Patricia McVey Purvis (George) of Sharpsburg, one granddaughter, Brooklyn Raynae Welch, two nieces; Jennifer Smedley (Matt) of Wallingford, Kentucky and Alicia Erwin (Tyler) and one nephew, Justin McVey (Amber) both of Owingsville, three great nieces; Rileigh McVey, Emilee McVey and Abby McVey, two great nephews; Wyatt Erwin and Gavin McVey.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home at 89 Slate Ave. Owingsville, Kentucky 40360 with Pastor Michael Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be from 12 noon - 2:00 PM Wednesday.

Pallbearers will include; Whitney Welch, Justin McVey, Matt Smedley, Tyler Erwin, Shawn Becraft and Dallan Griffin.

Honorary pallbearers are, Bob Bailey, Timmy Caldwell, Jenny Griffin, Michelle Caldwell, Bobby Brewer, Larry Brewer and Greg Hatton.
