Mr. Clarence Mitchell Rister, 83, of Owingsville, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 in the V. A. Medical Center, Cooper Drive, Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born on October 11, 1931 in Lackey, Kentucky, a son of the late Frank and Maudie Ramey Rister.
On November 5, 1952, in a barber shop, Clarence married Cuba Bolen Rister. One month after they were married, he was drafted in to the United States Army.
Mr. Rister drove a Film truck for several years. He had also worked at A. O. Smith, Southern States and drove a truck for the Walker Company.
Clarence was a Kentucky Colonel and former Mayor of Owingsville. He was an Old Regular Baptist and a member of the Owingsville Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patty Ann Rister.
Survivors include his wife, Cuba Bolen Rister, four daughters, Bonnie (Steve) Jones, Brenda (Ronnie) Johnson and Connie Cassidy all of Mt. Sterling and Belinda (Jimmy) White of Sharpsburg, one son, James (Vickie) Rister of Owingsville, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Richie Hunt Funeral Home with Willie Slone officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chad White, Scotty White, Travis Cassidy, Mike Idle, Mike Price, Charlie Phillips, Donnie Sowder and Todd Tout.
