David Jones

Mr. David Austin Jones, 89, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, October 30, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Bath County, Kentucky on March 9, 1929, to the late Austin and Sarah Reynolds Jones.

David was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church and was the former owner of Clay's, Grower's, and New Farmers tobacco warehouses in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He served in the Air Force from 1952-1956.  David enjoyed farming and was often seen by his peers and neighbors driving around the farm on his gator. He also was a member of the Board of Directors for Hurst Home Insurance Company, in Lexington, Kentucky. David was known to be a hard worker, but what he cherished the most was spending time with his family.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Jones and Willie Jones, five sisters, Lena Hart, Dodie Craycraft, Martha Lowery, Ruth Rumley and Frankie Robinson.

Survivors include his wife Charlotte Roberts Jones, whom he was happily married to for 67 years, two daughters, Margaret Ann Ingram and husband Rick of Owingsville and Monica Camenisch and husband Steve, of New Salsbury, Indiana. Survivors also include one brother, Paul Jones of Corbin, Kentucky, one sister, Maxine Green of Owingsville, eight grand children, Bridget Dasch, Chris (Emily) Camenisch, Nicole (Lance) Leffler, Brianne (Josiah) Bailey, Karina (Josh) Watson, Samuel Camenisch, Nanci Camenisch, Noelle Camenisch and twenty-one great grandchildren and his sister in law Francis Jones of Owingsville.

A private graveside service and burial  will be held in the Shields Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers include Oscar Shields, Jimmy Shields, Doug Stone, John Duncan, Howard David Stone and Donald Brewer.

Contributions are suggested to the Owingsville Christian Church building fund.
