David Neil Roberts, a kind man of few words passed away on December 6, 2023 at the Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on September 30, 1933, in Bath County to the late, Arthur and Elizabeth Shields Roberts.
David's life was filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
From a young age, David displayed his admirable work ethic and dedication to serving others. After graduating from Owingsville High School in the Class of 1952, David proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956. His time in the military instilled within him values of honor, bravery, and selflessness that he carried throughout his entire life.
Despite being a man of few words, David had immense love for his hobbies and interests. He found solace in fishing trips and cherished moments spent with loved ones while traveling to Gatlinburg. As a proud member of the Owingsville Christian Church, he regularly attended services and actively participated in the community. Additionally, David found joy in gathering with friends at the Coffee Club at Dairy Queen where he shared stories and camaraderie.
Above all else, David revered his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Staton Roberts, one brother Walter Scott Roberts (Maggie), one sister Charlotte Roberts Jones (David) and his sister-in-law, Jeanette DeArmond.
David is survived by his brother, Enoch Roberts (Phyllis) of Lexington and loving sister Lena Roberts Carter of Owingsville. Additionally, he leaves behind three nephews, Robert DeArmond (Tammy) of Versailles, Kentucky, Jeffery Roberts and Kevin Roberts, eight nieces - Bethany Patton (Phillip) of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Hayley Young of Lexington, Lori DeArmond of Berea, Kentucky, Monica Camenisch, Margaret Ingram, Julie Roberts, Karen Roberts Randle and Lenarae Fern, five great-nieces - Marley Young, Riley DeArmond, Myrissa Ritter (Jason), Abbey Rodgers, Claudia Rodgers and great nephew Benjamin Rodgers as well as two great-great-nieces Jenny Ritter and Nora Ritter, as well as many cousins who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Michael R Gray Funeral Home on Monday, December 11, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until 1:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location at 1:00 PM with Dr. Sean Bailey and Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. David will be laid to rest at the Owingsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Owingsville Christian Church and K9s For Warriors.
Pallbearers include, Orville Pergram, Robert DeArmond, Phillip Patton, Tom Fern Sr., Ben Davis Estes and you, his friends and family.
