Edna Vanlandingham

August 18, 1933 — December 17, 2021

Owingsville

Edna Roselyn Vanlandingham, 88, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Friday, December 17, 2021.

She was married to the love of her life, Gordon Hoover Vanlandingham and they were together for 70 years at the time of her passing.  She was the devoted mother of Deborah Goodpaster (Sherman), Randall Vanlandingham (Laura) both of Lexington, Kentucky and Tony Vanlandingham (Connie) of Owingsville. She was also the dearest grandmother to Kathryn Vanlandingham, David Vanlandingham (Julie), Shannon Goodpaster (Steven Guerrera), Scott Goodpaster (Nikki), Kevin Vanlandingham (Elyse), Clay Vanlandingham and the great grandmother to Karson and Kaitlyn Linville, Paul and Lauren Vanlandingham, Gracie and Rylan Vanlandingham and William, Joseph and Henry Guerrera.

She is survived by one sister, Phyllis A. Banks of Cocoa Beach, Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.

After her children started elementary school, Roselyn went on to graduate from Morehead State University where she received her Bachelors, Masters and Rank 1 in education. She went on to teach typing and business at the Bath County High School for 27 years. She cared deeply for her students who called her Mrs. V.

She was a faithful member of the Owingsville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years as well as being active in the WMV and GA's.  She loved her church and her church family.

Roselyn's world was centered around "Hoovie", her three children, six grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  She was a fantastic cook and was especially known for her fried chicken and fudge.  A trip to Granny and Papa's house was always treasured with lots of laughter, food, card playing and family stories.

Roselyn and Hoover traveled to all fifty states and enjoyed frequent family trips to Cave Run Lake and Myrtle Beach.

Roselyn was loving, generous and spread joy to everyone in her life.  Even with her health declining she actively kept up with her large extended family, neighbors and friends.  We will always carry her memory and love in our hearts.
