Mr. Eligah Russell “Jap” Hatton, 76, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the St. Joseph - Mt. Sterling Hospital.
He was born on August 8, 1941 in Bath County, Kentucky, a son of the late Arthur and Katie Donathan Hatton.
Mr. Hatton was retired and had owned and operated Russell Hatton Used Cars in Mt. Sterling.
He was of the Church of God Faith and he enjoyed Dirt Track Racing, Kentucky Wildcats Basketball and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lewis Hatton, Floyd Hatton, Bill Hatton and Jake Hatton and one sister, Mayme Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Brown Hatton, three sons, Aaron Hatton (Samantha), Jerry Hatton and Russell Hatton (Christina) all of Mt. Sterling, one brother, Stanley Hatton (Deloris) of Salt Lick, three sisters, Opal Blankenship, Nellie Goodpaster (Owen) and Oleta Robinson (Billy Scott) all of Owingsville, eight grandchildren, Kelsey, Jared, Karina, Gunner, Kelcie, Kaylee, Austin and Addyson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Donathan, Carl Stepp, Eric Kerns, Barry Robinson, Russ Robinson and Kevin Robinson.
