Emery Vernon Goodpaster, passed away on February 22, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on April 15, 1938 in Bath County to the late Howard Goodpaster and Helen Craycraft Goodpaster. Emery lived a life dedicated to service and compassion.
A proud Marine Veteran, he served from 1956 to 1959, embodying the values of courage and commitment. Following his military service, he went on to become a school teacher for nine years and continued on to acquire the Colonial Rest Home, where he took great joy in serving others and providing care. Following this, Emery worked 16 years for the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
Emery was a member of the Kendall Springs Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joetta (Yarber) Goodpaster, and one brother, Robert "Bobby" Goodpaster.
He is survived by one son, Jerrell Goodpaster (Debbie), and five sisters, Jane Manley, Barbara Boyd, Patsy Karrick (Joe), Bonnie Spencer, and Debbie Watson (Walter), as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Emery Vernon Goodpaster will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and the values he held dear. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and commitment to those he served.
At Mr. Goodpaster's request, a private service will be held.
