Floyd "Red" John Purvis, 83, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg, Kentucky.
He was born on July 15, 1937 in Bath County, Kentucky to the late Frank G. Purvis and Ima Dean Goldy Purvis.
John was a lively spirit who always loved to pull a good prank on his friends and family. As a young man he was a talented boxer who won many matches behind the old store. He went on to become a carpenter and was a proud member of the carpenters union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Nascar and tinkering with small engines.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Clinton F. Purvis and Albert "Bill" Purvis, one sister, Madge Catron and one nephew, Terry Scott Purvis.
Survivors include his wife Freda Purvis, his daughter, Deborah Dean Faudere, two nephews; Greg Catron and Jimmy Catron and one niece, Janet Kuhn. Survivors also include special friends; David Roberts (Elizabeth).
Graveside services and burial will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Polksville Cemetery in Polksville with Pastor Dennis Carman officiating.
There is no visitation.
