Helen D. Blevins, a cherished member of the Preston community, passed away on October 26, 2024 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She was born on July 2, 1939, in Bath County, Kentucky to the late, Conner Ginter and Gracie Morris Ginter.  Helen led a life rich with love, service, and dedication. She was the proud owner and operator of Blevins Grocery alongside her beloved husband, Rube Blevins, with whom she shared over 50 years of partnership both in business and in life.

Helen also served as the Postmaster of Preston for many years, embodying the spirit of service that defined her life. Her commitment to her community extended beyond her professional endeavors; she was known for her warm heart and generosity, often considering herself a mother to anyone who needed it.

Among Helen's many passions were collecting antiques, visiting yard sales, and indulging in a good book. However, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchild and three great grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply.

Helen was honored to be recognized as a Kentucky Colonel, a testament to her esteemed position in the community and her commitment to serving others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rube Blevins. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda York (Randy) and Jodie Ratliff (Mike), both of Preston; one granddaughter, Candice Kimsey (Scott); and three great-grandchildren, Abigal, Preston, and Palmer Kimsey. Helen's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched throughout her lifetime.

A graveside service honoring Helen will be held on November 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Preston Cemetery with Rev. Lowell Rice and Jeff Lepresto officiating.

Pallbearers include Ricky Wells, Mike Ratliff, Garry Jackson, Dewayne Carpenter, Scott Kimsey, Scott Miller, Tim Terry and Gerald Spratt. 

Honorary pallbearers include, Preston Kimsey, Randy York, Tuffy Snedegar, Muff Miller, Bob DeArmond and Denny Shelley.

The Michael Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all the arrangements for Helen D. Blevins.
