Ida Gayleen "Gay" Tackett, 85, of Jeffersonville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She was born on July 22, 1939, in Index, Kentucky, to the late Amos Adams and Della Havens Bailey.
Gay was a hard-working individual whose dedication and love for her family were truly remarkable. For over two decades, Gay managed the kitchen at Rosie's Cafe at the Gold Nugget Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada, showcasing her impressive skills and dedication to her career. She was Kitchen Manager at the Montgomery jail after returning to Kentucky.
Gay was known for her love of reading, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. She cherished the many moments spent traveling and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Her warm spirit and love for life will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew her.
Gay is survived by her husband, George Roy Tackett, and their three children: son George R. Tackett Jr. (Sharon) of Jeffersonville; daughters Edith Jean Shields (Donnie) of Camargo, Shannon Sevigny (Scott) of Spokane, Washington. Her grandchildren, George Thomas Tackett, Lisa Marie Tackett (Raymond) both of Winchester, Curtis Griffen (Katelyn) of Leesburg, Ohio, Amy Lee Vanzant (Adam) of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, Christy Tackett (Amanda) of Jeffersonville, Preston Sevigny and Candace Griffen (Shelby) of Mt. Sterling, each of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her life.
Gay also leaves behind a loving extended family, including nieces and nephews: Susan Smith (Scott) of Sacramento, California, Bruce Combs (Laura) of Oak Island, North Carolina, James Walters (Cathi), Tim Walters (Lisa), Amanda Martin (David), Samantha Adams (Carl) all of Owingsville, Josh Combs of Beavercreek, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo Adams, Ronald Adams, and Delmar Adams, as well as three sisters, Gail Walters, Zenobia Havens, and Coralene Adams. Additionally, three nephews, Wendall Havens, Doc Combs, and Joshua Adams, who held her dear.
A visitation to honor Gay will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.
Funeral Services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 3:00 PM with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
