James Archie Carpenter, 75, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Fountain Circle Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
He was born on August 8, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Albert and Fannie Combs Carpenter.
Beyond his career as a farmer, James had a variety of interests that enriched his life. He found solace and joy in fishing or spending leisurely afternoons playing horseshoes with friends. However, above all else, James valued spending time with his beloved family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Etna Carpenter, two brothers, Woody and Leon Carpenter and two sisters, Maudie Mullins and Ann Blake.
Survivors include his son, Billy L. Carpenter of South Shore, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Jack, Kerri and Tess Carpenter all of Salyersville, Kentucky, two brothers, Joe Carpenter of Winchester and Ronnie Carpenter of Owingsville, two sisters, Judy Brierley of Owingsville and Mildred Buckler (Walter) of Paris, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Pastor Jim Brandenburg officiating.
Burial will follow at the Old Virginia Cemetery in Peasticks.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Pallbearers include, Billy, Donnie, Jack and Ronnie Carpenter, Walter Buckler and Thomas Gose.
