James Schulte

July 14, 1946 — July 26, 2017

Mr. James Peter Schulte, 71, of Owingsville, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

He was born on July 14, 1946 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Lawrence Andrew Schulte and Mildred Henger Schulte.

Mr. Schulte was a retired educator.  He was an elementary school teacher in Flint, Michigan, a Community School Director, Principal at Summerfield Elementary School and Director of Research and Evaluation for the city of Flint School System.

James was a graduate of Morehead State University and Eastern Michigan University and he did doctoral work at Michigan State University.

He was a member of the St. Julie Catholic Church and he enjoyed woodworking, camping, outdoor activities, reading and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence “Larry” Schulte, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda “Scottie” Riddell Schulte, one son, Tom Schulte (Heather) of Mt. Sterling and one daughter, Barbara Schulte (Heath Reynolds) of Lawrenceburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Julie Catholic Church with Father Arturo Molina officiating.

Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Friday at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
