James Buford Snedegar, affectionately known as "JB," was born on November 10, 1949, in Owingsville, Kentucky to the late Buford Snedegar and Gladys Wells Snedegar. He passed away at his home in Owingsville on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the age of 75.
JB dedicated over 50 years of his professional life to the AO Smith Corporation and Southern States, where he was respected for his work ethic and commitment. His contributions to the industry were marked by dedication and excellence.
An avid sports enthusiast, JB was particularly passionate about the UK Wildcats, a team he faithfully supported. In addition to his love for basketball, he enjoyed the thrill of NASCAR races and took great joy in farming. JB cherished delightful meals with his beloved companion and partner of twenty-eight years, Bethany "Nece" Anderson, often indulging at Golden Corral, where they built many fond memories together.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Guerl Snedegar, and three sisters, Phyllis Holland, Shelia Snedegar, and Janice Shrout.
JB leaves behind his companion and partner, Bethany "Nece" Anderson. He was the father of three daughters, Karen Manley, Angie Moore (James), and April Rowe (Cody), all of whom reside in Owingsville. He is survived by eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind aunts Bonnie Manley of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, and Gordie Conyers of Owingsville, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2024, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.
Burial will follow at the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Pallbearers include Broderick Moore, Phillip Sorrell, Dewayne Purvis, Tim Lyons, Jimmy White, William Reffitt, Rogie Coyle and Charles "Hammer" McGuire.
Honorary Pallbearers include all Southern States employees.
In honor of JB, contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society and UK St. Claire Hospice.
