Jimmy T. Smith

Jimmy T. Smith, 84, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at his home. 

He was born in Bath County, Kentucky on July 8, 1938 to the late Luther Smith and Rose Wade Smith. 

Jimmy was a kind hearted soft spoken person who was always there to help others in their time of need.  After retiring from the Allen Construction Company he went on to work for the Bath County Board of Education as a School Custodian.  He enjoyed taking long walks and drives in the vehicle with his late wife Mary.  He also loved watching the Andy Griffith show, many different westerns and spending time with his beloved family. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Smith, two brothers, Willis Smith and Wallace Smith, two sisters, Myrtle Griggs and Ruby Sizemore, one granddaughter, Regina Anderson and one great-great grandson, Caiden Clevinger. 

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Anderson (Charles) of Owingsville and Loretta Conkright (Tim) of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, one son, Tyrone Smith of Morehead, Kentucky, seven grandchildren, Emily and Austin Conkright, Bryan Anderson (Shelley), Cody Anderson, Morgan and Katie Smith and Andrea Bates, six great grandchildren, Kaleb Roberson, Christopher Clevinger, Jacob and Hunter Anderson, Isaiah Smith and Joshua Bates Jr. and one great great grandchild, Falcon Roberson. 

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Pastor Mike Munday and Tim Conkright officiating. 

Burial with full military honors will follow at the Owingsville Cemetery.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Friday. 

Pallbearers include, Austin Conkright, Johnny Sturgill, Cody Anderson, Burnsy Stewart, Derek Griggs, Carl Griggs and Trent Bailey. 

Honorary Pallbearers include Watson Thomas, Reed Smith, Hunter Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Emily Conkright and Gerald Spratt.
