Kara Luann Strange

Kara Luann Penick Strange of Owingsville passed away on December 18th, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Kara was born October 3rd, 1963 to the late Ewell Shrout Penick and Marie Atchison Penick. 

Kara graduated from Bath County High School in 1981 and went on to receive a degree from Morehead State University. She was a registered nurse who cared for countless patients throughout a career spanning over 40 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, listening to country music, and cheering on the Louisville Cardinals basketball team. Kara is survived by two sons, Ryan (Lora) Utterback and Matthew (Jade) Strange, both of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and one brother, Tim (Ricci) Atchison of New Castle, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Atchison.

Funeral services will be conducted 5:30 PM Saturday, December 21, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Pastor Gregg Whitt officiating. 

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM Saturday.
