Laura Manuel

Laura Mae Prewitt Manuel, 81, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at  Baptist Health in Lexington, surrounded by family.

She was born on December 3, 1939 in Elliott County, Kentucky to the late Vencil Prewitt and Hazel Lewis Prewitt.

Laura worked at the Owingsville Bank as a bookkeeper for several years before joining her husband at Manuel's Pic-Pac. She was a member of the Owingsville Baptist church where she participated in the Women's Missionary Union. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, baking and participating in the local Homemakers Club. Laura also loved to travel and spend time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Dean Prewitt and Dale Prewitt and one sister, Gladys Prewitt Clevinger.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Donald Manuel, her two daughters; Lisa Manuel Williams (Lance) of Lexington, Kentucky and Cheryl Manuel Gay (Jim) of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, two grandchildren, Laura Ragan Gay and James Harrison Gay, five sisters; Lillian Prewitt Clevinger (Clayton), Mary Prewitt Howard (Jack) Carolyn Sue Prewitt Poindexter (Jackie), Linda Prewitt Massingile (Ray) and Pam Prewitt Gutierrez (David), four brothers; Charles Prewitt, David Prewitt (Cathy), Bill Prewitt (Donna) and Mose Prewitt. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Owingsville Baptist Church at 92 Coyle Street, Owingsville, Kentucky 40360 with Rev. Chris Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.

Visitation at the Owingsville Baptist Church will be from 5 PM - 8 PM Tuesday.

Pallbearers will include; Harrison Gay, Doug Toy, Lance Williams, Greg Lykins, Jackie Poindexter, Jim Gay and Larry Vincent.

Honorary Pallbearers include; Wendall Moore, Hoover Vandlandingham, Jack Howard and Larry Routt.

Contributions are suggested to the Owingsville Baptist Church, the Alzheimer's Association, or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in lieu of flowers.
