Lillian Eleanor (Highley) Holland, 84, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Born on April 18, 1939, in Sudith, Kentucky to the late Benjamin Highley and Manie Moore Highley, Lillian lived a life filled with warmth and compassion that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Lillian had a multitude of interests and hobbies that brought her joy throughout her life. She was an avid crocheter, spending countless hours creating beautiful pieces with her skilled hands. In addition, she enjoyed spending time at the bowling alley, where she found excitement and camaraderie in the sport. Lillian also found solace in the challenge of puzzles and word searches, always keeping her mind sharp with these engaging activities.
Beyond her personal pursuits, Lillian was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Ted J. Malin Sr. and Arval W. Barnes. She was also predeceased by four sisters: Bethel Greene, Roma Armitage, Mary Frances Patrick, and JoAnn Ramey; two brothers: Benjamin (Jr) Highley and Franklin (Dee) Highley; as well as one granddaughter, Brittany Holland.
Lillian is survived by her beloved husband, Harold Holland, five sons: Timothy Holland (Beth), Larry Holland (John), Ted Malin II (Melinda) all of Lexington, Kentucky, Mark Holland (Lynn) of Mt. Sterling, and Alan Corum (Cheryl) of Richmond, Kentucky. Additionally, five daughters: Miriam Crouch (Robert) of Owingsville, Laura Wathen (Jimmy) of Shelbyville, Kentucky, Susan Tubbs (Mark) of Paris, Kentucky, Pam Clark (Randy), and Kathy Corum both of Smyrna, Tennessee, one brother, Sidney Highley (Kay) and one sister, Judy Hunt (Harold) both of Owingsville. She also leaves behind nineteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren who will forever hold her love in their hearts.
To honor Lillian's memory, visitation services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michael R Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville, Kentucky. A funeral service will follow on Monday, February 12th at 1:00 PM at the same location with Navy Chaplain, Lt. Joshua R. Holland officiating. Lillian will be laid to rest in Holland Cemetery in Owingsville following the service.
Her grandsons, Bryson, Derrick, Ryan, Corey, Mason and Justin will serve as pallbearers.
In a world that often seems chaotic and unpredictable, Lillian Eleanor Holland was a beacon of love and kindness. Her legacy lives on through the memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that she made a profound impact on all whose lives she touched.
