Lola Bernice Craycraft Downey

Lola Bernice Craycraft Downey, 79, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation in Owingsville, Kentucky.

She was born on March 28, 1943 in Bath County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Clyde T. and Farris Crump Craycraft.

Lola had worked in a doctor’s office where she filed insurance claims.  She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church in Mt. Sterling and the Montgomery County Homemakers. 

She enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Jackson Downey, who passed away on July 13, 2021, three brothers, Clyde Craycraft, Charles Ray Craycraft and Jerry Craycraft and three sisters, Donna Galt, Diane Ritchie and Judy Campbell.

Survivors include two sons, Doug Downey (Becky) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Larry Downey of Mt. Sterling, one sister, Robin Caskey (Eddie) of Paris, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Richard Downey (Jessica), Nathan Downey (Grace), Jacquie Downey, Jessica Blevins and Casey Highley and two great-grandchildren, Jayda Puckett and Forrest Downey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 25, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Hedricks Cemetery in Salt Lick, Kentucky.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
