Mrs. Marie Corey Purvis, 74 of Salt Lick passed away Saturday morning, September 8, 2018 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky after an extended illness.
She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on April 20, 1944 to the late Thomas (Red) Corey and Evline Withrow Corey.
Marie was a very loving and caring person who was always thinking of others. She was a member of the Moore's Ferry Church of Christ in Salt Lick and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was an avid U.K. basketball and football fan and had a faithful canine friend named Tanner, who she loved very much. Marie also enjoyed taking trips out on the town with her close friend Janice Otis.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lee Purvis, three sisters, Frances McCarty, Opal Mae Pergram, Martha Louise Corey and one brother Marlin Banks Corey.
Survivors include one brother John Corey and wife Edith of Owingsville and special cousins Mary Lou Robinson and Karen Young of Salt Lick. Also several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Pastor Dennis Carman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Hedricks Cemetery in Salt Lick.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is from 6-8 P.M. Monday.
Pallbearers include Jerry Shrout, Lacy Corey, Jonathon Corey, Virgil Withrow, Bob Razor and Christopher White. Honorary Pallbearer will be Wayne Otis.
