Marie Staton, 104, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, August14, 2024, at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky. She was born on August 9, 1920, in Bath County, Kentucky to the late Everett Highley and Callie Fowler Highley.
Marie was soft spoken and had a loving heart. She was a lifetime member of the Polksville Church of God. She loved going to church and serving the Lord. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth leader, Song leader, Secretary and Treasurer. She is special and loved by all her church family. She has touched so many lives and has been an inspiration by living her faith before others. Marie enjoyed reading the Bible, going to church and being with her church family. She loved working in her beautiful flowers, gardening, canning and cooking. She was a wonderful cook, and she enjoyed seeing people eat. She wanted everyone to feel comfortable and loved. She enjoyed sitting on her porch talking with family and friends and enjoyed her life on the farm. Marie especially loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment with her family. Their laughter and presence brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
Marie was a devoted Christian, loving wife and a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind. Cherish the memories you have of her and know that she is resting in the arms of the Lord. Her love, kindness and compassion will live through her family and the many lives she touched through her 104 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Staton, granddaughter, Martha Susan Staton, two sisters, Mae Berryman and Dot Riddle, and one brother, Mac Highley. She was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sister in-laws, several nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
Survivors include her two sons, Bobby Staton (Melinda) and Mickey Staton (Pashia), one daughter, Brenda Coyle (Rogie), five grandchildren, Michele Staton, Michael Staton (Amy), Karen Staton, Brandon Coyle (Tera) and Robbie Coyle (Christy). Also, seven great-grandchildren, Alimarie Tindall, Averie Tindall, Addie Staton, Cole Staton, Ayden Coyle, Owen Coyle and Hudson Coyle. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, friends and church family and a special friend, Mary Gray.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Owingsville First Church of God with Rev. Lowell Rice, Pastor Ralph White, Deacon Bill Grimes, Pastor Todd St. John and Pastor Johnny Baber officiating.
Burial will follow at the Hedricks Cemetery.
Visitation at the Owingsville First Church of God will be from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Friday.
Pallbearers include Michael Staton, Brandon Coyle, Robbie Coyle, Jimmy Kissick, Jim Gay, Jim Berryman, Phillip Hawkins and Larry Griggs.
Honorary Pallbearers include Tim Day, John Perkins, Doug Boyd, David Oakley, Gordy Wells Jr. Clay Maze and Robbie Coleman.
