Omer D. Everman, 85, of Salt Lick, Kentucky formerly of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born on November 11, 1935 in Bath County Kentucky to the late Harmon Lighter Everman and Bernice Butcher Everman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Burl Everman and Earl Everman, two sisters; Merl Everman and Pearl Everman and one granddaughter, Ashley Calvert.
Survivors include his wife Fay Everman, three sons; Jimmie D. Everman (Jan), Terry Wayne Everman (Debbie) and Anthony Dale Everman (Kim) all of Owingsville, two daughters; Debbie Everman Boyd (William) of Sharpsburg, Kentucky and Tina Everman Vanderpool (Doug) of Salt Lick, Fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Omer was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He went on to serve five more years in the United States Army Reserves. Omer was a member of the Tunnel Hill Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, camping and helping others. He was the director for the Bath County Ambulance service, Owingsville City Police and Hobart Company for several years. Omer also served as jailer in Bath County for eight years and was named Kentucky Colonel for his honorable service to his community.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Owingsville First Church of God with Pastor Sherman Sparks and Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial and military rights performed by American Legion Post 22 will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 - 9 Wednesday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home at 89 Slate Ave. Owingsville, Kentucky 40360.
Pallbearers include Zachary Tyler Vanderpool, Benjamin Brice Everman, Christopher Lee Everman, Justin Dwayne Purvis, Robert D. Lee Boyd, Jordan Everman and John David Everman.
Honorary pallbearers include, Robert Ginter, Larry Ginter, Harmon Lacy Everman, Waynee Everman and Burl Wesley Everman.
