TOLLE Ramona, 90, of Owingsville, KY, formerly of Lexington, KY, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at home surrounded by family. She was born in Buena Vista, Ohio on June 21, 1932 as the third child (of 12) of the late Robert Raymond Hodge and Elsie Bernice Hodge.
Her primary role in life was that of mother and serving others. Ramona made braided rugs and quilts (each a work of art) for numerous family and friends. She loved working in the garden and canning fruits and vegetables for many, many years – sharing these gifts with friends and family also. In recent years, she baked and gave away hundreds of pies (all homemade of course.) Ramona loved to write. She wrote letters to friends often and composed many poems. Her best literary accomplishment was a written memoir of her childhood years; the book is entitled My Cocoon.
Through the years she worked various jobs, including Bath Manufacturing and later retired as a worker in the child nutrition program at Tates Creek High School. She was a member of the Owingsville First Church of God in Owingsville, KY. Ramona was a former president and chaplain of the women’s auxiliary at the American Legion, Post 313 in Lexington, KY.
Ramona will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her; daughters, Dorinda (Michael) White, Jennifer (Leroy) Blount; sons, Jay (Mery Cres) Curtis, Jamey (Jody) Tolle, and Shawn (Robin) Tolle; stepdaughter, Linda (Dave) Walls, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and one special niece, Hilda Rose. In addition to her parents, Ramona is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, James Tolle and her son, Robert Curtis.
A special thank you to the staff at St. Claire Hospice, for their loving care and support during her final days.
