Robert "Brian" Matthews, 46, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center after an apparent heart attack.
He was born on October 3, 1973 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the son of Charlie and Pam Harris Matthews.
Brian was a Superintendent Estimator for Henderson Services in Georgetown, Toyota. He was also a Journeyman Electrician for 23 years and a proud member of I.B.E.W Locals 183 and 369 Union. He was a devoted husband, father, son and dear friend. He enjoyed golfing, watching U.K. sports, cruising and traveling the United States visiting all of the Salty Dog Shipmates and most importantly, he deeply admired spending time with his beloved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by three children, the twins, Thomas Kade and Michaela Lynne and his daughter, Bailey Ann-Ross Matthews. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, William "Red" and Virginia Harris, Elizabeth Matthews and Johnny Matthews, one sister in law, LaCaren Matthews.
Including his parents survivors include his wife of 24 years, Shanna Clark Matthews, his son, James Devin Matthews both of Owingsville, his brother, Michael Matthews of Jeffersonville, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rick and Kathy Rogers of Morehead and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from all over the world that he had the pleasure of meeting while on the Flogging Molly Salty Dog Cruises that He, Shanna and Devin all enjoyed very much.
At Brian's request there will be a celebration of life that will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Brian may be made to the James Devin Matthews College fund and mailed to the Owingsville Banking Company at P.O. Box 575 Owingsville, Kentucky, 40360.
