Ronald Glenn Martin, 83, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on May 4, 1941, to the late Weck Martin Jr. and Mary Glenn Blevins Martin. Ronald lived a life rich with experience, characterized by dedication to both his career and family. He proudly served in the United States Army for 21 years while serving two tours in Vietnam with 101st Airborne. In 2021 he was inducted into the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame.
Ronald's legacy is one of compassion and creativity. He had a passion for a variety of hobbies that reflected his vibrant personality. Whether it was camping, crafting, photography, woodworking, target shooting and riding his motorcycle. Ronald embraced life with enthusiasm and shared those interests with family and friends. He was also a member of the Owingsville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Eugene Martin and Darrell Wayne Martin, as well as one sister, Judith Martin Saunders.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carmella L. Moore Martin, as well as their son, Ronald G. Martin II of Salt Lick, Kentucky. Ronald was a beloved grandfather to five grandchildren: Stephanie Martin, Rebecca Martin, Ronald "Trey" G. Martin III, Aden Martin, and Isabella "Bella" Martin. He took great joy in the company of his eleven great grandchildren — Owen Jr, Dominic, Jensen, Steven, Colt, Charolette, Sherry, Raymond, Wesley, Evelyn, and Atreus "Leon."
In addition to his immediate family, Ronald is also remembered by his three sisters, Peggy Bentley (Charles), Nancy Laughlin (Chuck), and Donna Vale (Jeff), along with his brother, John Treadway (Charlene). He cherished the memories created with several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, December 23, 2024, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Pastor Tim Ray officiating.
Burial and full Military honors will follow at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
