Wanda Bowles

Wanda June Bowles, 75 of Bethel, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the St. Joseph, Mt. Sterling Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on September 21, 1942 to the late Henry Lum Bowles and Maggie Basford Bowles.

Wanda was retired from Jockey International in Carlisle after working over 40 years as an inspector. She was a longtime fan of Elvis Presley, enjoyed watching game shows, her soap operas, doing word search, cooking and spending time with her family. She was easy going and her favorite saying was "it will be alright".

Although she never had children of her own she helped raise three generations of her nieces and nephews. They loved her dearly and affectionately called her Mamaw.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death four brothers, Harry Allen "Bud" Bowles, Samuel Bowles, Ralph Bowles and Bobby Bowles. Nine sisters, Carolyn Bowles, Rosemary Bowles, Judith Bowles, Edna Hunt, Nola Bowles, Betty Bretz, Bonnie Dailey, Hester Bretz and Vickie Bowles Skaggs. Also, her beloved dog and companion "Charlie".

Survivors include One brother, John Bowles of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, One sister, Louise Perry of Bethel, Kentucky. Also, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Roy Stacy officiating. Maggie Smith will share the eulogy and special family remembrances.

Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is after 12 Noon Tuesday.

Pall Bearers will be Ralph Hunt, Harry Hunt, Payton Carroll, Joshua Bowles, Joseph Bowles and Andy Dailey.
